The Material Collection Facility (MCF) plays a crucial role in making Ongallur Grama Panchayat completely clean and plastic-free. This institution serves as the central hub for the Panchayat's sanitation and waste management coordination.

Location and Operations

The MCF is located in Ward 10 of Ongallur Grama Panchayat. Non-biodegradable waste, collected and sorted by Haritha Karma Sena members from households, commercial, and industrial establishments across various wards of the Panchayat, is brought and stored here.

Key Components and Operational Workflow

  • Sorting: Plastic, e-waste, glass, bottles, paper, textile waste, footwear, and other materials collected by Haritha Karma Sena are systematically sorted here.

  • Pressing & Baling: Sorted plastics are compressed into compact bales using a baling machine to reduce their volume for storage.

  • Transfer to RRF (Resource Recovery Facility): The sorted waste is dispatched from here to the Clean Kerala Company or Block-level Resource Recovery Facilities (RRF) for recycling.
