Panchayat Level Tree Committee
The Panchayat Level Tree Committee has been constituted to protect trees standing on public roads and public spaces, and to prevent accidents caused by uprooted trees or falling branches.
Tree committees are formed at the Panchayat level pursuant to Local Self-Government Department Circular No. 248/RC3/2016/LSGD dated 14.07.2017. Currently, this local-level committee functions to avoid delays caused by requiring District Level Tree Committee approval for cutting down trees, ensuring timely decisions in emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities
Inspect whether trees and branches in public places pose potential hazards.
Take necessary action regarding trees that threaten public life and property.
Instruct private individuals to remove hazardous trees located on their properties.
Initiate appropriate legal action if instructions are not complied with, and recover the expenses incurred from the individual concerned.
Ensure that the valuation of cut trees is conducted through the Forest Department.
Coordinate tree protection activities within the Panchayat limits to ensure a safe environment.
The Panchayat Level Tree Committee functions with the dual objective of guaranteeing public safety and preserving environmental protection.
